Dr. Norman Roskin

Dr. Norman Roskin grew up in the Miami area of Florida.  He attended the Ohio State University for his undergraduate studies and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Georgia in 1974.  In 1977, he purchased Sandy Spring Veterinary Clinic and has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery in the Sandy Spring community for more than 30 years. 

Dr Roskin is a member of the Theriogeneology Society (study of reproduction) and attends their annual meeting each year.  In addition, he is a member of EVSSAR (European Group of Reproductive Veterinarians) and has attended conferences in the Netherlands, Norway, Canada and this year will attend the reproductive conference in Vienna, Austria.  Under his direction, OSSVH maintains one of the few canine frozen semen storage facilities on the east coast that been approved by the American Kennel Club.  
 
To keep up with the advances in veterinary medicine he attends continuing education seminars locally as well as regional and national veterinary conferences.  He was the president of the Montgomery County Veterinary Medical Association, and is still a member of the Maryland and American Veterinary Medical Associations.

Dr. Roskin is married to Janet, a Montgomery County school teacher, and together they have two beautiful daughters.  The oldest daughter is living in Virginia, and is getting married this June.  The younger daughter is in her third year at Towson State University.   The Roskin's currently reside in Montgomery County with their big yellow lab 'Cooper'.  In his spare time Dr. Roskin is easing his way into retirement by playing golf, tennis and traveling as much as possible.


Dr. Jon Deitchman

Dr. Jon Deitchman is a 1966 graduate of the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.  He founded the Olney Veterinary Hospital, Ltd., in 1972.  Dr Deitchman is skilled in all aspects of veterinary medicine with a strong interest in cardiology and feline medicine.

He is an active member and past officer of the D.C. Academy of Veterinary Medicine, which is dedicated to providing high quality continuing education to the veterinarians of the Washington metropolitan area.  He is also active in the Montgomery County, Maryland State, and National Veterinary Medical Associations.

Dr. Deitchman has a daughter who is an architect in San Fransisco.  She and her husband are awaiting their first child.  Dr. Deitchman got married in 2003 to Sandy, a technician here for many years.  They are living in Howard County with their cats Cooper and Marley.  His hobbies include carpentry, gardening, and sports.  He and Sandy travel to wonderful places as much as they can and are looking forward to a peaceful retirement.



Dr. Karen Hoffmann

Dr. Karen S. Hoffmann obtained her veterinary degree from the University of Minnesota in 1991.  Prior to her veterinary career, she received her MS from The University of Connecticut in biochemistry.  Her focus in veterinary school was equine medicine, which she practiced for the first several years after graduation.  The transition to mixed practice, then exclusively small animal occured over the next few years in several private practices in Maryland.

Dr. Hoffmann joined Olney-Sandy Spring in the spring of 2000, and is now the Medical Director.  She has special interests in dentistry and behavior and takes a holistic approach to the wellness of all her patients.  She is a member of the American Veterinary Dental, Holistic, and Animal Behavior Societies.  She is a member of the Maryland and American Veterinary Associations, as well as the American Association of Feline Practitioners.  Dr. Hoffmann received formal training in the PennHIP method of canine orthopedic evaluation from the University of Pennsylvania and is certified to perform PennHIP studies.  She regularly attends seminars locally and  nationally.

She is married to a professor of Physics at the University of Maryland.  In her spare time, she spends time with their three children, runs her farm, gardens, and obedience trains her dogs.  She enjoys hiking, biking and other outdoor activities.  She also owns and breeds champion miniature schnauzers.



Dr. Joellen Gregory

Dr. Joellen Gregory is a 2005 graduate of the University of Minnesota.  She has been involved with training and showing purebred dogs since her pre-veterinary days.  She owns and trains Otterhounds, competing in conformation, tracking, agility, and obedience.  As a competitor first and veterinarian latter, Dr. Gregory brings a unique point of view that benefits the competetive dog owner and breeder.  Her areas of interest are genetics, reproduction, and canine sports medicine.






Dr. Elise Geldon

Dr. Elise Geldon grew up in Rockville, Maryland and majored in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University.  Between college and veterinary school, she spent a year working as a technician at a small animal hospital in Gaithersburg, Maryland.  After graduating magna cum laude from the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania in 2007, Dr. Geldon completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA Veterinary Referral Associates in Gaithersburg, Maryland.  Dr. Geldon has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, neurology, and alternative therapies and is excited to be working at Olney-Sandy Spring.  She lives with her two Himalayan cats in Bethesda and enjoys horseback riding, scuba diving, reading, and watching movies in her spare time.
