COVID-19 INFORMATION

Dear OSSVH Clients,

We hope this letter finds you safe and well. Thank you for your patience and continued support during this trying time. We want to assure you that we are fully committed to providing health care to your pet as we have always done, and would like to inform you of our intentions going forward as things begin to reopen.

We feel an equal measure of concern and responsibility for the health of our staff, patients, and you- our clients. We are therefore planning to continue car-side appointments for the foreseeable future, even after the Stay-at-Home Order for Maryland has been lifted.

As of May 7, the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners has indicated that we are be able to resume seeing your pets for non-essential and elective services including wellness exams, spays & neuters, dentals, grooming, and reproductive services.

Of utmost importance is the health and safety of ourselves, our clients, our community and our patients.  Following the guidelines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/prevention.html).

If you are concerned that you are infectious, have come into contact with someone who is infectious, or displaying signs of infection (fever, coughing, shortness of breath, loss of smell/taste, fatigue) please call us before your appointment and we will devise a plan to see your pet safely while reducing risk to our staff.

In order to minimize exposure and risk we will be doing car-side and drop-off appointments.

Car-side appointments:

  • Please call us when you arrive to our hospital and remain in your car.
  • We will have a team member take a brief history by telephone in order to maintain social distancing.
  • Ensure that your pet is in the backseat on the passenger side.  The team member will then take your pet into the hospital for the physical examination.
  • The doctor will call you to discuss their recommendations.
  • We will perform the services that you approve and bring your pet back to your car.
  • Payment will be collected by telephone.

Drop-off appointments:

  • Again, please call us when you arrive to our hospital and remain in your car.
  • We will have a team member take a brief history by telephone in order to maintain social distancing.
  • Ensure that your pet is in the backseat on the passenger side.  The team member will then take your pet into the hospital for the physical examination.
  • We will contact you when your pet is ready to go home.
  • Payment will be collected by telephone.
  • We will return your pet to your car.
  • The drop-off fee will be waived.

We will gladly bring medications and pet food to your car.  Please call us from your car when you arrive so we can take care of that for you.

We welcome your feedback and will do our best to continue to provide the best service and care for you and your pets. As always, if you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

We are happy to announce that we are also providing remote healthcare services through Televet.  You can visit our telemedicine page for more information here.

Sincerely,

Your OSSVH veterinary team
